Help Us End Healthcare Illiteracy Today - Address the Crises
Join Our Mission and Be Part of Healthcare's Solution
Your support can make a real difference. By contributing to our fundraiser, you help us provide essential education and resources to those struggling to navigate the healthcare system. Together, we can empower individuals to take control of their health and improve their quality of life.
Overview
Who We Are: The Patient Better Project Inc., established in 2021, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity that provides people, families, and non-medical caregivers with the health education they need to navigate the medical landscape successfully.
Why We Were Created: Research shows that an estimated $108 to $238 billion a year ($7,135 per person with a chronic condition) is wasted on preventable, avoidable, and unnecessary care services. The digitization of the healthcare industry and the pandemic have left people unable to manage their care properly. Patient Better recognized this growing disparity and created a solution to end America’s health illiteracy crisis.
What This Fundraiser Is For: This fundraiser supports our mission, creates awareness of the health illiteracy epidemic, and helps Patient Better to develop comprehensive educational programs, provide essential resources to patients and caregivers, and expand our outreach to underserved communities.
How You Can Help and the Benefits of Participating: Your participation in this fundraiser will support a vital cause and provide you with the ability to pass along the new standard of patient knowledge needed to manage care appropriately. Donors will not only help us grow but will also receive tools to help end healthcare illiteracy, making a tangible difference in people’s lives.
Why your support matters
Impact: Research shows that at least 80 million Americans unwittingly suffer from healthcare illiteracy. The astounding annual consequence of this $108 to $238 billion epidemic wreaks havoc on our already strained healthcare system. Health illiteracy’s ripple effect has an even more profound impact on fellow patients, families, and essentially everyone else involved in care.
The Need: Healthcare illiteracy leads to a range of negative outcomes, including medication misuse, unnecessary inpatient and outpatient care, longer hospitalizations, and superfluous trips to the emergency room. These issues not only affect individual patients but also place a significant burden on the entire healthcare system.
Our Mission: The Patient Better Project’s mission is to enrich lives and improve the healthcare experience while easing the strain off of our healthcare system by addressing these critical issues. By teaching people how to:
- Prevent medication misuse
- Escape unnecessary inpatient and outpatient care
- Avoid longer hospitalizations
- Bypass superfluous trips to the emergency room
We aim to create a more informed and engaged patient population, ultimately leading to better health outcomes and a more efficient healthcare system.
